The Motse, meaning small village in Setswana, is designed to a Tswana theme, with the thatched cottages named after small houses called legae. Intended to blend in inconspicuously into the mountain range, the lodge is a perfect example of the owner’s policy to return the Kalahari to its former glory.

The lodge is designed with a distinct African feel to it, adding to its elegant and stylish atmosphere. Next to the lodge is a watering hole that is often frequented by game. The watering hole is visible from from every cottage.

The Motse offers a variety of dining options: meals can be served in the privacy of your own lounge, in the main lodge’s dining room, or under the stars in the lodge’s open-air boma.

Tswalu Kalahari Reserve can be explored through an assortment of game-viewing activities. Guests can go on guided walks along silent red dunes, or venture out to scenic spots, in an open-sided safari vehicle. There is also the option of going on a horse-back safari. Some of the wild animals that guests might see include lion, leopard and rhino.

In between game drives, guests can visit the Sanctuary Spa at Tswalu to rejuvenate. There is a large range of treatments for every facet of relaxation.

The Motse comprises 8 spacious legae (the Tswana word for small house) and can cater for up to 20 guests. Six of the cottages are designed for two people, while the other two are designed with families in mind, and can sleep four people each.

The cottages are built using local stone, rich red clay, and topped off with a traditional Kalahari thatch roof.

Each suite includes a spacious bedroom, en-suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor shower, large private lounge with fireplace and a private sun deck overlooking the water hole.

Guests staying at The Motse have access to the heated swimming pool, library, walk-in wine cellar, and laundry and valet services.

The Sanctuary Spa at Tswalu is located at Tswalu, for guest wishing to take a break from game viewing.

The Sishen golf course is also located nearby and is rated eighth in South Africa.

The Motse is located at the foot of Korranaberg mountain range and blends in subtly with its natural surroundings.
