Noordhoek Beach is a beautiful, fairly quiet and wild beach which has long stretches of powdery white sand ideal for horse-riding.

Galloping or trotting over the sand and through the shallow waters is an incredible experience, and is a great romantic date idea as well as a fun activity to try with friends or family.

There are a number of stables near the beach, with trained horse experts who are able to help newcomers to horse-riding and show them the correct way to sit in the saddle and hold the reins.

Often rides are done in the early morning or in the evening, which offers the chance to see a spectacular Cape Town sunrise or sunset over the waters.

A good suggestion to add to the day is to pack a picnic basket and some bubbly, as well as a blanket and some candles, and enjoy a moonlit picnic after your ride.

Horse-riding is possible from both the Kommetjie and Noordhoek beach sides.
