Olare Orok Conservancy, Kenya. Mara Plains, a safari camp under canvas located within the private Olare Orok Conservancy, borders the northern boundary of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy game drives in the Masai Mara and in the privacy of the Olare Orok Conservancy. The 8 100-hectare (20 000-acre) conservancy is rich in wildlife and has the Masai Mara’s lowest vehicle density. Here you are in the epi-centre of the hunting grounds of many of Africa’s big cats. Hardly a night passes without the exciting sounds of lions roaring nearby. Mara Plains caters for 12 guests in six spacious en-suite canvas rooms, all built on raised wooden decks with sweeping views of the surrounding plains and riverine forest.
The camp has a raised dining room and lounge under canvas, while the outdoor dining area is set in the shade of large trees along the river. Activities include private game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives and walking safaris.
