Kruger National Park

The Greater Kruger National Park is the ideal travel destination for your luxury safari to Africa. The Park is South Africa’s premier game sanctuary due to its sheer size, variety of flora and fauna, and the number of animals to be seen.

Wildlife

Besides the famed Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant), you’ll see a multitude of wildlife and game, both endangered and not. Within the park boundaries there are 147 mammal species, 520 bird, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, over 150 insect groups and 119 reptile species. The plant kingdom is well represented too with 336 tree species.

Private Reserves and Lodges

Many private game lodges are nestled along the western boundary of the Kruger National Park in private concessions such as Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, Manyeleti and Timbavati.

These lodges cater for the discerning traveller and feature five-star luxury and ultra-luxury accommodation in suites and canvas tents.

Our preferred lodges based on their level of luxury, the experience you will have, and the rate we have negotiated for you include:

Jock Safari Lodge opulent five-star thatched suites in two camps

Lukimbi Safari Lodge luxury African-styled suites

Rhino Walking Safaris
Luxury, stilted thatch and canvas suites

Singita Lebombo Private Game Lodge 5-star suites in two stylish camps

A typical day at a Private Game Lodge

Depending on the season you will arise before sunrise to an early morning cup of coffee and a rusk followed by a 2 to 3 hour game drive, brunch or lunch.  During the heat of the day when the animals are generally scarce, you can choose to lie next to the pool, have a spa treatment, or just relax quietly in your room with a book. High tea will be followed by a late afternoon game drive, sundowners (glossary) in the bush, a night drive (glossary) followed by a traditional African style dinner.

Best time to visit

Kruger National Park is an all year round destination. The best time for you to observe the animals is in the dry winter season from May to August when vegetation is sparser, leaving little to obstruct the view.  Because of the very low rainfall in winter the animals tend to congregate at water holes to drink in the mornings and evenings.  In Summer the days are longer and the warmer allowing more private time for relaxation. The game viewing however is still excellent.

“The Kruger National Park is a must see for first time visitors. We like to select the lodge based on each customer’s individual preferences. Are you looking for an ‘authentic’ bush experience in which case you may want to choose to stay in luxury tented accommodation, or would you prefer to have everything at your fingertips and are looking to be pampered in a private family villa. We will tailor make your bush experience to your unique needs.”
