Mateya safari lodge, located in the spectacular 75 000-hectare (185 000-acre), malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, promises to be among the most prestigious and exclusive game lodges of its kind in southern Africa. The reserve is home to the Super Seven (lion, buffalo, cheetah, elephant, leopard, black and white rhino and wild dog), plains game and over 350 species of birds. Accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers, guests can venture on game drives with a maximum of four guests per vehicle or track animals by foot on guided walking safaris through the reserve. Each adventure is planned around guests’ specific interests, ensuring the fulfillment of their ideal safari experience.

The lodge’s five individual and luxuriously designed air-conditioned suites blend beautifully with their natural surroundings. Guests enjoy total privacy in their own open-air showers and private rim-flow pool deck while savouring the wonderful sights and sounds of their own slice of Africa. The Madikwe Reserve is just three-and-a-half hours’ drive from Johannesburg and 120 kilometres from Sun City. A scheduled flight departs daily from Johannesburg and lands in the reserve, making this ultra-desirable destination easily accessible.

Mateya Safari Lodge accommodates just ten guests, in five individually designed air-conditioned luxury suites. Original African artworks adorn each suite as well as hand-crafted mahogany furnishings. Every feature of the suites provides total privacy and comfort.
