The Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy is one of the most environmentally diverse parks in Namibia and, in addition to wildlife, incorporates cultural artefacts like rock paintings and engravings from prehistoric settlements in the area.

Endemic species in the area include a variety of plant, bird and animal species. Species that are extremely rare and have found refuge in the Erongo Mountains include the Peregrine falcon and Booted eagle. The striking Black eagle can also be seen breeding in many parts of the mountains.

The Erongo region has high densities of leopard and brown hyaena. The members of the conservancy are committed to re-introducing species that formally inhabited the area such as black-faced impala and Black rhino.
