On the Zambian side of the border is Mosi Oa Tunya Park. It is named after the traditional name given to Victoria Falls by the locals, which means, “the smoke that thunders”.

Despite its size, there is plenty to discover in the park. Dambwa Forest Reserve is also located inside the park, as well as Mukuni cultural village and several ancient and sacred ancestral sites.

The vegetation is made up of mostly mopane woodland, with smaller spots of teak and miombo forests. Closer to the river, visitors will find riverine bush and luscious rainforest.

An elephant migration route intersects the park and the large mammal can often be seen crossing the river. Other wildlife that can be seen includes wildebeest, giraffe and zebra.
