Located in the far south of Mozambique, Maputo (previously known as Lourenzo Marques) is the sprawling capital city of this East Coast African country.

With a population of about two million, a large, busy harbour and a regular ferry service, Maputo is worlds apart from the civil war of the 70s and 80s that catapualted the prosperous African city into turmoil and poverty.

Maputo is now clean and well looked after, full of character and charm.
