Covering much of the central Namib Desert as well as the Naukluft Mountains, at just under 50 000 square kilometers, the Namib-Naukluft Park is one of the largest national parks in Africa. The park is in fact rated the fourth largest conservation area in the world and is home to some of the rarest and strangest plant and animal species in the world, including the Welwitschia Mirabilis, large lichen fields and Hartmann's Mountain zebra.

Namib-Naukluft Park also includes a section of the Diamond Coast Area.
Sossusvlei and Sandwich Harbour fall within Namib Naukluft Park and in addition to  Sesriem, Naukluft hiking and four wheel drive trails, are two of the parks main attractions.
