The Eastern Cape boasts some of South Africa's most spectacular natural scenery and beautiful coastlines and is steeped in Frontier history. In recent years it has become home to some of the country's premier private game reserves, like Shamwari, Addo and Kwandwe.

One of the major drawcards of a Malaria-free safari in the Eastern Cape, is the Addo Elephant National Park. This densely vegetated bushveld is home to over 450 African elephant, rhino, buffalo and a wide variety of antelope. There are plans to more than double the size of the 164 000 hectare park, and this larger area will stretch to the coast and a marine reserve.

The Eastern Cape is also home to South Africa's fifth largest city, Port Elizabeth, the economic hub of the region. Tourist attractions in Port Elizabeth include scuba-diving, safe swimming beaches, a Snake Park, Aquarium, and the performing dolphins, seals and penguins at the Oceanarium. The National Festival of Arts, in nearby Grahamstown, takes place annually in July of each year.
