The Zululand area of KwaZulu Natal is rich in cultural and historical significance, and is also well-known for its game viewing and Big Five African safaris.

Driving north from the Tugela River, toward the oldest town in Zululand, Eshowe, with its lush forests, the landscape is dotted with Zulu villages and kraals, many of the inhabitants still following the traditional Zulu way of life.

It was here in Zululand that Shaka, King of the Zulus, forged his powerful Zulu Kingdom towards the end of the 18th century, and here that the last battle of the Anglo-Zulu War was fought near Ulundi in 1879.
The KwaZulu Cultural Museum in Ulundi, former capital of KwaZulu, is home to displays of Zulu history and archaeology to this effect.

The Zululand region also abounds with wildlife, including the Big Five, in well-known, extensive reserves like the 15 000 hectare CCAfrica Phinda Private Game Reserve.
Other notable attractions, towns and game reserves of significance in the area include Gingindlovu, Hluluwe, Mkuze, the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, Mkuze Game Reserve and Thanda Private Game Reserve, the latter reserves all superb destinations for a luxury African safari.

The whole area of Zululand is within easy reach of Durban and it's International Airport
