The Lower Zambezi area is home to three different habitats; the river is hugged by thick riverine fringe, while a little further inland is a floodplain fringed with mopane forest interspersed with winterthorn trees. The broadleaf wooded hills that form the backdrop to the Lower Zambezi National Park constitutes the third habitat of the Lower Zambezi region.

The beauty of this region is in its state of absolute wildness. Despite the fact that the variety and amount of game is possibly not as wide as elsewhere in Zambia, there are some spectacular opportunities to get close to the game wandering in and out of the Zambezi Channels.
