Namibia in a Nutshell

Namibia in a Nutshell

9 NIGHTS / 10 DAYS

Overnight in the bustling capital city of Windhoek before heading to Etosha National Park for 2  nights.

Etosha meaning Great White Place is dominated by a huge mineral pan and is characterised by excellent game viewing.

From Etosha National Park, head to Damaraland. Damaraland is home to the mountain massif Brandberg as well as the Doros Meteorite Crater and the famed Petrified Forest. Visitiors will spend 2 nights experiencing the austere beauty here.

From Damaraland you make your way to the town of Swakopmund for 2 nights.  Swakopmund offers many sightseeing attractions, including the railway station, built in 1901, a museum, brewery, art gallery and an aquarium. Activities here include exciting adventures on the magnificent dunes, horse races, sailing, motor racing, soccer, tennis and beer fests.

Your final 2 nights are spent at Sossusvlei, a huge salt pan in the central Namib Desert. Marvel at the magnificent 300 metre red sand dunes that have become synonomous with the area, as well as at the plants that have managed to adapt to these harsh conditions.

Windhoek - Windhoek is the Capital of Namibia.  It is a multi-cultural city which pulsates with life.  Places of interest include the Tukondjeni Market, the Penduka Project Centre and the UN Plaza built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the United Nations.

Etosha National Park - Etosha National Park is a huge salt pan surrounded by flat bushland.  The water holes, scattered throughout this area, are the basis of life for countless game.  The reserve is home to some 300 lion, 300 rhino, 2 000 giraffe and 1 500 elephant.  Particularly plentiful are the dainty springbok.

Damaraland - Damaraland is situated south of Etosha and is characterized by open plains segmented by towering granite mountains.  Guests may be fortunate in getting a sighting of the roaming desert elephant and rhino which travel hundreds of miles per day in search of water.  Whilst in the area, we recommend a visit to the Petrified Forest and Bushman engravings at Twyfelfontein which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Swakopmund - Swakopmund, situated on the coast, is the country’s second largest town and the traditional ‘summer capital’. The region offers many activities ranging from dolphin cruises (to view birds, seals and dolphins), a ‘living desert tour’ and hot-air ballooning, to quad biking and sand boarding on the dunes.

Sossusvlei – the Namib desert is he oldest and most arid region in the world and has been in existence for almost 80 million years.  One of the highlights are the large clay pans of Sossusvlei surrounded by the world’s highest, red sand dunes…an unforgettable, magical sight!
